Abstract

Paediatric endodontics is an important clinical procedure used to manage pulpally involved or non-vital teeth. Endodontic procedures can be done using hand or rotary instruments for the canal preparation and removal of organic debris. The aim of the study is to evaluate the preference of hand or rotary instrument in multi-visit RCT done in permanent molars by pediatric dentists. The study was conducted in a university setting. A total of 300 samples were collected and the data was collected from the dental archives software. It was tabulated in an excel sheet and was analysed by SPSS software by IBM. The output was represented in the form of graphs and pie charts. A total of 300 cases were tabulated. 80.4% preferred rotary type of instrument. The most common gender preferred was male (p value=0.002) and the age was 17 years of age (p-value = 0.986). The most common type of tooth preferred was the mower molars( p value= 0.158). It can be concluded from the study that the Rotary instrument was the most preferred instrument in the permanent molars. The preference was more towards the male patient and mandibular molars with an age group between 16-17 years.
