Diabetes is one of the ‘Prameha’ which consists of two words, ‘Pra’ meaning abundant, and ‘Meha' meaning passing of large quantity of Urine. Incidentally, the term diabetes has been derived from the Greek term 'Diabainein' to mean 'to cross through a siphon' meaning the continuous free flow of water and applied to mean the elimination of large quantity of Urine. Till now, various kinds of synthetic and herbal formulations were made, and many are more frequently used to achieve desirable treatment.
